Support the Jamil Niner Student Pantry this #GivingTuesday
First, there is a day of thanks. Then, there are three days of deals. Now we have a day to give back.
Our community has felt the pandemic's impact, but our University's student pantry has been hit even harder.
The Jamil Niner Student Pantry was created to ensure food security, human dignity, and well-being on campus by providing in-need UNC Charlotte students with healthy, culturally appropriate emergency food assistance-- and this wouldn't be possible without the support of generous alumni, parents, and friends.
Make a gift today to the Jamil Niner Student Pantry to ensure that no person in the Niner community goes hungry and that every student has access to nutritious food this holiday season.
Pre-pandemic, the Pantry assisted 80-90 students a week. Now the Pantry is experiencing an incredible need as that weekly number has increased from 187 to as high as 320.
Our goal is to stock the Pantry for the next three months since the holiday season is the Pantry's busiest time of year. This will allow the Pantry to supply food to all Niners seeking seeking food assistance during the holidays as we anticipate more students using the Pantry since all classes go virtual after the Thanksgiving holiday.
You can help stock the shelves immediately with the Jamil Niner Pantry's Virtual Food Drive! The Pantry's most-needed food items can be found on this Amazon wish list. Simply choose the items and ship them directly to the University to allow the Pantry to replenish its supply.
Following Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving and celebrating generosity. For UNC Charlotte, this is a day that brings the community together to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. We will celebrate giving by supporting the Jamil Niner Student Pantry on campus to ensure 49er students have the resources they need this holiday season.
